Ball gets England contract but is also fined
The Welbeck Wizard, Nottinghamshire's Jake Ball, has been awarded his first ever white ball contract for England.
The 26-year-old bowler from Warsop joins his county teammate Alex Hales in a list of fourteen players given central contracts for One Day International and T20 matches in the 2017/18 season.
And, their clubmate Stuart Broad is one of eight players awarded a Test contract for the upcoming year.
The ECB have reiterated that Hales, along with Ben Stokes, will not be considered for England selection until further notice following an alleged brawl in Bristol that is under investigation.
It has been revealed, meanwhile, that Ball is one of three players who have been given a formal written warning and a fine for unprofessional conduct during the recent One-Day International series with West Indies.
The ECB say that it follows internal disciplinary proceedings that are unrelated to the investigations into Hales and Stokes.
They added that "the internal investigation and process for this matter has now concluded and no further comment will be made."
The undisclosed fines from Ball, Jonny Bairstow and Liam Plunkett have been paid equally to the PCA Benevolent Fund and the Hornsby Professional Cricketers’ Fund.
The Centrally Contracted players for 2017-18 are:
Test Match - Moeen Ali, James Anderson, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Chris Woakes.
ODI/T20 - Moeen Ali, Jake Ball, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Alex Hales, Eoin Morgan, Liam Plunkett, Joe Root, Adil Rashid, Jason Roy, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Chris Woakes, Mark Wood.
Incremental - Toby Roland-Jones.
