AUDIO | Football Fans Set To Cross Enemy Lines for Charity Walk

A group of football supporters, including our very own Craig Priest, will be crossing enemy lines early on Saturday morning, walking to the One Call Stadium to Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium – all in the name of charity.

The walk, set up by Nathan and Mick Edge, is the third walk of its kind which challenges football supporters to walk from one location to another in time for kick-off and this year will be raising money for both Guide Dogs and The Alzheimer’s Society by walking from Chesterfield’s Proact Stadium to Mansfield Town’s One Call Stadium before the big local derby.

The Edge family have previously organised two very successful walks, from Mansfield to Chesterfield in 2013 where the Stags secured a memorable 1-0 victory over the Spireites and raising over £3,500 for Guide Dogs in the process, and a 16 mile walk from Meadow Lane to the One Call in 2016 when the amber and blue hit the Magpies for five and again, raising over a terrific £5,000 for Guide Dogs.

The 16.7 mile walk will begin at the Proact stadium in the early hours Saturday morning and will follow a planned route to ensure walkers arrive at the One Call Stadium in plenty of time prior to the 1pm kick-off.

Anyone wishing to donate can do so here

Mansfield 103.2s Craig Priest will be participating in the walk and in the audio below, talks to Nathan ahead of the walk
