Ashfield District Council nominated as a Finalist in the national Energy Efficiency Awards

Ashfield District Council has been shortlisted as a finalist in the Landlord of the Year category of the Energy Efficiency Awards.

The national awards recognise those organisations that are implementing energy efficiency measures to their housing stock, helping tenants and residents reduce their energy bills, tackle fuel poverty and reduce Carbon emissions.

Working in partnership with J Tomlinsons, Ashfield District Council have carried out energy improvement works to nearly 2000 homes across the district. This has included external wall insulation to non-traditional properties, the installation of solar panels, window replacement and central heating replacement.

Ashfield District Council is committed to reducing carbon emissions and reducing fuel poverty within the District, both in relation to its own housing stock as well as in the private sector. It is estimated the carbon savings from works carried out in 2016/17 is circa 62 tonnes per annum.

Paul Parkinson, Director of Housing & Assets at Ashfield District Council says “At a time of rising utility costs and other household essentials being short listed for this national award shows the commitment Ashfield District Council has to improving energy efficiency, not just to our housing stock but for all residents of the district. We work with householders to address the issues of fuel poverty and affordable warmth, providing advice and information.”

J.Tomlinson CEO, Mark Davis says "We are delighted that our client Ashfield District Homes has been shortlisted for the Landlord of the Year award. Ashfield cares deeply for their residents and the wider community, and this is demonstrated in their unwavering passion for improving energy efficiency measures across the district."

The awards ceremony will take place on 29th September in Birmingham.
