Almost £200,000 Of Cannabis Seized
Officers have seized a cannabis grow after locating 178 plants last weekend in Selston following reports from concerned residents of suspicious activity in the area.
The Ashfield Neighbour Policing Team forced entry into the premises at around 1pm on Saturday (23 May 2020) and located the plants.
The grow was removed by the Nottinghamshire police cannabis dismantling team and has been estimated to be worth approximately £180,000.
Police Constable Ebony Robinson was at the scene at Lindley Street and said: "Local residents alerted the force by ringing our non-emergency contact number, 101, and we were quickly on the scene.
"As a result of their contact we have disrupted an orgainsed and professional cannabis production operation.
"Nottinghamshire Police is committed to robustly investigating crime associated with cannabis in its bid to protect the public.
"Those who choose to grow cannabis must consider the impact and potential risks involved – not only to themselves and their own property, but also the wider neighbouring community."
There have been no arrests in connection with the incident. If anyone has any information, please call 101 quoting incident number 300 of 23 May 2020.
Cannabis is a Class B drug. Possession of a Class B drug is punishable by up to five years in prison, an unlimited fine or both.
Supply of cannabis is punishable by up to 14 years in prison, an unlimited fine or both. Police can also issue a warning or an on-the-spot fine of £90 if you’re found with cannabis.
