A Chorus For Corah
A Chorus For Chorah
A charity concert, held in memory of Mansfield teenager Corah Slaney, goes under the spotlight in this week’s News In Focus.
Corah passed away in July 2015 after suffering from Mitochondrial Disease and the concert held in her memory last weekend, helped to raise money for The Children's Mitochondrial Disease Network who support a number of families who have children who are also suffering from the illness.
The program will feature an in-depth interview with Corah’s mum Lisa and will explain more about Mitochondria as the News In Focus team speak to the founder of The Children's Mitochondrial Disease Network, Paul Preston.
Paul set up the Charity in 1992 after losing his daughter Kristen aged just eight weeks old and said event’s such as “A chorus for Corah” held on Saturday evening are a massive support to all.
“In many ways for us observing that community spirit was such an endearing process. To watch a community come together for a young lady and raise that roof for Corah, wow did they do that”
“We have to get that word out about what mitochondrial disease is, it’s not a rare disease that’s not spoken about as it’s featured in many other disorders and so much more is known about it than probably ever before”
“Ultimately the families facing this journey should not be facing this journey alone. We are there for them”
