2020 Cancel Breakfast Meetings
Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 Business Group have cancelled breakfast meetings and rescheduled their annual awards night.
In a statement 2020 wrote:
Mansfield and Ashfield 2020 have been monitoring the Corona Virus outbreak and subsequent government advice very closely over the last two weeks. Our initial reaction was that we would continue with business as usual and try to carry on in the spirit of keeping our members connected.
However, following the governments’ advice on Monday afternoon to limit all unnecessary social interaction, the board of M&A 2020 feel that the only responsible thing to do in this situation is to cancel our events at least until the end of April. This will ensure that our members limit contact with any potential contagious individual and protect their families and the wider community.
This decision will, of course, have an impact on the next two breakfast meetings: 26th March and 30th April, as well as our annual awards due to be held on Friday 24th April.
The Breakfast Meetings have now been cancelled and our speakers rescheduled for a date in the future. Our annual awards has now been re-arranged for Friday 25th September.
We hope that by moving the awards to a date 6 months in the future, it will allow for the current situation to run its course and for M&A 2020 to assess the viability of the event with a clear picture of the true nature of the long term impacts this pandemic will have.
In the meantime, the board and the operations team will be working very hard to increase our virtual online connections and more details of this will follow very shortly.
We are conscious of the impact that this situation will have for many of our members and also business, schools and residents of the wider community. Mansfield and Ashfield were set up in 1991 to be an organisation that offered support to local businesses and also allow those business owners to have their issues and concerns heard by government and local decision-makers. This is still part of our key purpose, therefore, if you have any concerns that you feel are not being addressed by the current offer of support, please get in touch and let us know. We will then filter this through to the most appropriate departments.
The current measures introduced (18th March 2020) by the government can be found here:
This outlines a number of businesses support pledges including £10,000 – £25,000 of grant funding for small businesses and extension of SSP for employees.
We will do our best to keep this information as up to date as possible.
In the meantime, please keep yourselves and your families well and we look forward to meeting with you all in person as soon as we can.
